There are moments in life, when you feel small and almost meaningless in a world that keeps turning and that is inhabited by so many brilliant minds. One of those moments was, when I heard and later read about Linda Tucker. She is an amazing person, a former London model, who now dedicates her life to the rescue of white lions.
In 2002 she founded the Global White Lion Protection Trust, which is a non-profit conservation and community development organisation. It was build up in the greater Timbavati bush region. At this time there were no known white lions in the wild.
Although some were bred in captivity, most of them for hunting reasons, their natural occurence was down to zero. In the last decade Linda’s work and her efforts have already been bearing fruits. There were cubs born in the wild again. And she definitely draw attention to the actual problem of the near-by extinction of this rare sub-species.
This is definitely a project to support. The variety of our global fauna has already been decimated enough and we should fight for every single species to not go extinct. Even if that means to act against Darwin’s principles – oh, wait, we already do by causing extinction of not only lions.
It’s above amazing to see how a single person is so dedicated to a good cause, so ambitionated to bring something so wonderful back to life and save a global heritage.
